OSU's Kim Anderson Talks with SUNUP about The 2020 Wheat Crop Prices

Thu, 23 Apr 2020 17:05:15 CDT

OSU's Kim Anderson Talks with SUNUP about The 2020 Wheat Crop Prices Oklahoma State University Extension Grains Market Analyst Dr. Kim Anderson talks about what is going on in the Wheat Markets weekly on SUNUP.

This week Dr. Anderson says the 2020 wheat crop price looks like it will be around $4.75 to $5.00 for wheat. He says prices are going to depend on how much wheat is produced, but the biggest deal will be the test weights and the protein. Anderson says if there is good test weights and protein there is the possibility of higher prices.

This week on SUNUP, Amanda Silva gives us a look at wheat varieties at Altus and Chickasha.

- Then, in the Mesonet weather report, Wes Lee explains why recent weather has not been favorable for hay production. Gary McManus says May could bring higher than normal rainfall opportunities.

- In Cow-Calf Corner, Glenn Selk has information on the importance of properly storing and handling vaccines.

- Kim Anderson adapts his marketing theory of "a third, a third, and a third," and says producers could take advantage of prices at harvest.

- Finally, Amy Hagerman has information for producers looking to sign up for the USDA's Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). She also reminds producers about the WHIP+ program.
