Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Show to Happen September 29th Through October 4th Despite State Fair Cancellation

The Tulsa State Fair is cancelled for 2020- but there will be a Tulsa State Fair Junior Livestock Show within the same time frame of the traditional State Fair. The fairgrounds at Expo Square will be open and receiving livestock on September 29th- with the last of the showing to happen Sunday, October 4th. Two events will happen after that Sunday- a junior breeding gilt sale will happen online on Monday, October 5th and the Night of Champions Premium Sale is set to occur on Tuesday, October 6th.

According to the Tulsa Fair Livestock Exhibitors Facebook page- the junior market show will not be a "terminal" show here in 2020- "All Tulsa State Fair Market Animal Shows are non terminal this year with the exception of the Grand and Reserve Grand Champions." It also appears that the Prospect Steer Show and Showmanship contests will not be held- and the Tulsa State Fair says for those contests that entry fees will be refunded. It also appears from the comments on the Facebook page is that there will be no vendors on the fairgrounds this year and whether the public will be allowed on the grounds is still being decided.

September 29th will see the breeding stock starting to arrive- Wednesday September 30th will see the Junior Dairy Show, Dairy Goats and Purebred gilts showing. Thursday, October first will feature the commercial breeding gilts, the Junior Breeding Ewe Show and the start of the Junior Beef Heifer Show.

On the second of October, Friday, the Beef Heifer Show continues and the breeding does will be shown. Friday also is a move in day for market barrows and entries for the Junior Horse Show.

On the weekend- Saturday October 3rd will be a day for more move-ins- and the start of the Junior Horse Show, the Junior market barrow show and the junior market lamb show.

Sunday will see the market animal shows continue- Market Barrows, Market Meat Goats, Market Lambs, Market Steers and Market Broilers. The Grands and Reserve Grands will all be chosen that day ahead of the Night of Champions Premium Sale that is planned to be online at 4 PM on Tuesday, October 6th.
