Studying the Grazing Land Research Efforts on Day Five in Ireland- Flickr Pics are Updated. The fifth full day in Ireland saw Class XV of the Oklahoma Ag Leadership Program moving from one city to another once again, as the group started in Waterford (yes- we passed the show room for Waterford Crystal as we left town- it was still closed as we headed on) and made several stops along the way before arriving in Cork on the southern coast of Ireland on Friday evening.

A highlight of the day was several hours at the Teagasc research farm in Fermoy where we learned about their Livestock and Grassinglands Research Efforts. The picture here is of Mary McEvoy explaining their Grassingland Research efforts to members of Class XV out in one of their permanent rye grass fields.

We have other pictures of the day- more from the Teagasc visit, as well as stops in the ancient harbor town of Cobh (the last port of call for the Titanic before she sank out in the middle of the Atlantic), Midelton where the Jameson Irish Whiskey plant is located and finally to Cork, where the group had dinner and heard from dairy farmer Tim O'Leary, who talked with the group about the major farm organization in the Republic of Ireland- the Irish Farmers Association.

Click here for all of the pictures of the OALP International Travel Experience in Scotland and Ireland to date- they are housed in a set on Flickr.
