New LMIC Director Katelyn McCullock Talks Beef Cow Numbers and More With Ron Hays
Thu, 03 Jan 2019 13:47:54 CSTAs 2019 begins, the Livestock Market Information Center welcomes a brand new Director- Katelyn McCullock, who has served as their Senior Agricultural Economist.
Prior to joining LMIC, Katelyn has worked in the Farm Credit System as well as in Washington, DC for American Farm Bureau Federation on livestock related agricultural policy topics. She has a masters in Agricultural Economics from Colorado State University .
Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with McCullock about a couple of related issues as 2019 begins- the partial government shutdown and the impact that has on several livestock reports- and then specifically what LMIC is thinking about a major report that will come out at the end of January- assuming it is not derailed by the Government Shutdown- the Annual Cattle Inventory Report.
Katelyn tells Ron that LMIC is thinking we might have a very slight increase in Beef Cow numbers in the report based on January first numbers- with perhaps a Beef Cow number of 31.8 million head as we begin the new year- versus the 31.7 million head reported January first, 2018.
