Phil Seng Sees a Lot of Positive Energy in Several Key Markets for US Beef

Phil Seng Sees a Lot of Positive Energy in Several Key Markets for US Beef He has forgotten more about the export of US meat than most people will ever know- we're talking about Phil Seng, the President and CEO of the US Meat Export Federation. We sat down and visited with Seng here in San Antonio at the 2010 Cattle Industry Convention- teaming up with questions from the 2010 President of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, Greg Akagi from Kansas.

We talked about current market conditions for US beef in variety of countries, starting with our leading destination for US beef, Mexico. Seng is just back from Mexico and believes that 2010 will be a banner year for our neighbor to the south. He adds that there is some heartburn wherever you go in Mexico regarding the implementation of COOL here in the United States, which is one of the few bumps in the road in our top market.

We also talked conditions in Russia, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and China with the long time leader of the body that promotes US red meat overseas, the USMEF.
