Homeland Stores Win National Retail Beef Backer Award at Cattle Industry Convention in Denver
Thu, 03 Feb 2011 14:53:43 CST
Homeland Stores were honored by the Cattle Industry in Denver at the 2011 Cattle Industry Convention. Park Ribble, Perishables Director for the parent company HAC, talked with us about the efforts of Homeland, United Supermarkets and Country Mart stores in Oklahoma and Kansas to sell beef.
HAC was awarded the Innovator of the Year Award in the Retail Beef Backer Awards. HAC won the judges over with its aggressive campaign to launch the Red River Ranch Angus Beef brand and explore new opportunities in beef merchandising.
Ribble says that they have worked hard in rolling out Red River Ranch Angus Beef in their 75 stores- and cooperated with Cargill in developing a tender flavorable product that appeals to their consumers. They are their beef for 14 days before being put in the meat case for consumers. He tells us that "Beef is the most important commodity in the store." Homeland started the process of branding their beef about two years, using a website- click here for the Red River Ranch Angus Beef website One way to win consumers over is to offer coupons that can be printed from the website.
Ribble says one key advantage that his stores have over others is the one on one connection they have built with their customers- offering meat cutting in the store which helps that connection to remain solid.
