Is 2011 the Year the US Can Move Japan to a 30 Month Standard for Accepting American Beef?
Fri, 04 Feb 2011 11:49:21 CST
Japan is one of the countries where US Beef has more upside potential in 2011- but only if we are able to move successfully from the current standard of taking beef from the US from animals 20 months of age or younger. Phil Seng, the President and CEO of the US Meat Export Federation, believes that moving the 20 month standard up to 30 months can realistically be done in 2011.
He adds that will expand our export potential to what was our largest beef export market before BSE in 2003. We look at the hurdles to getting movement on Japan on today's Beef Buzz, as we continue our coverage from the 2011 Cattle Industry Convention in Denver.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
