Changes in Cash Cattle Prices May Help Packer Margins
Wed, 08 Jun 2011 9:31:56 CDT
Recent changes in the cash cattle prices from the spring months has caused some concern. However, Jim Robb with the Livestock Market Information Center in Denver, says the fall of cash cattle prices from $1.23 a couple of months ago to a current $1.04 for 100 weight has resulted in an improvement in the packers margin. This is a good sign for those that process the cattle.
Robb says this also provides a much more positive picture for the future, especially by increasing the ability to bid for fed cattle. Robb also says he sees the market returning to more normal relationships as we move into the summer months and hopefully there is an increase in consumer demand.
In today's Beef Buzz Robb addresses more on the change in the cash cattle prices recently and how it will be beneficial in normalizing the marketplace.
The Beef Buzz is a regular feature heard on radio stations around the state on the Radio Oklahoma Network- but is also a regular audio feature found on this website as well.
