Oklahoma Pork Producers Gather for Pork Congress in OKC March 16

The Oklahoma Pork Congress is scheduled for Friday, March 16, at the Reed Center in Midwest City. More than 150 pork producers, allied industry members and guests will meet for updates, programs, lunch, an awards banquet, business meeting as well as silent and live auctions.
After registration at 9 a.m., the schedule will begin at 10 a.m. with an update from okPORK, National Pork Producers Council, and the National Pork Board. Then, attendees will particpate in a question and answer session about the issues facing the pork industry today in Oklahoma. During lunch, the 2012 Oklahoma Environmental Steward winner will be announced and celebrated.
Following lunch, McSpadden & Associates will lead attendees through a discussion on the current legislative session and the effect it could have on Oklahoma's pork industry. The okPORK membership will also hold its annual business meeting and elect members to the okPORK board of directors.
At 4 p.m. Bruce Vincent, a third generation logger, will give a keynote speech centered on the logging industry's struggle with activists. The speech is entitled With Vision, There Is Hope.
The evening will begin with a reception during which attendees will have the opportunity to raise funds through the okPORK silent auction. The Awards Banquet will begin at 6:15 p.m. During the banquet Rich and Eddie Robinson, owners and operators of Robinson Farms, will be inducted into the okPORK Hall of Fame. In addition, okPORK plans to honor Rep. Skye McNeil as the 2012 Outstanding Legislator and Chappel Supply and Equipment will be commended as the 2012 okPORK Ambassador. The evening will end with a live auction.
