Both Choice Boxed Beef prices and the finished cattle trade ended higher for the week ending September 14, 2012 - Audio with Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News Office, Amarillo, Texas

In this week's beef report with Ed Czerwien, USDA Market News Office in Amarillo, Texas, we saw the choice cut market end the week of September 14, 2012 gaining about .80 over the previous week at $191.54 cwt. The volume was slightly improved at 958 loads. The total boxed beef volume for all cuts last week was 7,700 loads.
The general trend in the finished cattle trade was mostly $2.00 to $3.00 higher last week with trade in the South at $126 to $127 cwt.
The harvest weight last week from the Texas Panhandle was 1,274 pounds, eleven pound higher than the previous week.
