The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) installed Pete Bonds, Saginaw, as the new TSCRA President today during the closing session of the 2013 Fall Board Meeting. Bonds served as the TSCRA first vice president prior to the death of former TSCRA President Clay Birdwell.
Richard Thorpe, Winters, will serve as the first vice president.
"This association has been crucial to the strength and stability of the Texas cattle industry for well over a century," said Bonds. "It's an honor to serve and lead this organization as president."
Bonds operates the Bonds Ranch headquartered in Saginaw. He became a TSCRA director in 1992 and was elected second vice president in 2011.
Thorpe is owner and operator of Mesa T Ranch headquartered in Winters. Thorpe was elected a TSCRA director in March 2006. He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University.
Birdwell passed away in August. He served TSCRA as second vice president from 2009-2011, first vice president from 2011-2013, and was elected president in March 2013.
