Tue, 29 Oct 2013 12:17:54 CDT
Farmers markets provide consumers with fresh, locally grown produce while supporting local communities. Currently, the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry is accepting applications for grants that will assist existing farmers markets in promoting specialty crops. Market directors are encouraged to submit applications ranging from $500 up to $3,500. Grant applications are due on Dec. 13.
Grant funds may be used for signage, advertising, or marketing of specialty crops available at the markets. The 2014 Oklahoma Grown Farmers Market Specialty Crops Grant program has $55,000 available. Applications must be received by Dec.13 at 5:00 p.m.
For additional grant information and application forms contact Oklahoma Grown Program Coordinator Nathan Kirby at (405) 522-6194 or nathan.kirby@ag.ok.gov .
