Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 01/27/2014


   


Actual Receipts: 8406   Last Monday: 14,150 Year Ago Monday: 6303

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady to 1.00 lower. Feeder heifers mostly steady. Steer and heifer calves steady in a light test. Demand moderate to good following the negative Cattle on Feed Report and 3 days of lower cattle futures. Quality plain thru attractive. Strong cold front blew in Sunday night dropping temperatures some 40 degrees from the mid 60's over the weekend. Strong winds and very low humidity's continue to dry out wheat pastures that are already in need of moisture. Receipts this week totaled 74 percent over 600 lbs and 33 percent heifers.

   
Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1: Calves: 300-400 lbs 226.00-241.00; 435-450 lbs 220.00-229.00; 450-500 lbs 212.00-228.00; 500-550 lbs 201.00-218.00; lot 500 lbs fancy 226.50; 550-600 lbs 186.50-200.00; 600-700 lbs 170.00-177.00; 740-745 lbs 161.50-165.00; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 172.50-188.50, thin fleshed 179.00-183.00; 700-800 lbs 161.75-174.00; 800-875 lbs 155.00-167.00, load fleshy 845 lbs 156.75; 900-960 lbs 153.00-158.50.
