Registration Open for TSCRA School for Successful Ranching
Registration is open for the 20th Annual TSCRA School for Successful Ranching. The school is scheduled April 4 in conjunction with the Cattle Raisers Convention April 4-6 in San Antonio, Texas.

"TSCRA's School for Successful Ranching is the largest one-day educational program available to ranchers in Texas," said Pete Bonds, rancher and TSCRA president. "If you're a rancher of any capacity and want to make money in 2014, this is the place to be."

Bonds says the school offers practical, useful tools and training for ranchers with operations of all sizes.

Featured speakers include beef sustainability expert Dr. Judith Capper and CattleFax CEO Randy Blach. Both Capper and Blach will discuss sustainability, marketing strategies and risk management for ranchers during the current economic climate.

Chuck Coffey, Hugh Aljoe and Deke Alkire with the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation will lead a session dedicated to helping ranchers cope with the recent drought. They'll discuss the next steps in drought recovery, what this drought has taught ranchers and what effects the drought has had on U.S. beef production.

Drs. Ryan Rhodes and Kimberly McCuistion with the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management will discuss how to leverage the drought to help improve operations and identify diversification options.

Other sessions will focus on strategic planning for ranchers, soil health, reducing inputs, weed and brush control, prescribed burning, the changing cow-calf industry, animal health and animal nutrition.

Registration is $90 for TSCRA members and $140 for nonmembers. Registration includes eight hours of educational programs, a printed proceedings book with all presentations and lunch. Participants should register before March 21. A complete schedule of the School for Successful Ranching can be found at www.tscra.org/convention/school.

The 137th Cattle Raisers Convention is April 4-6 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. Highlights of the convention include the Cattle Raisers Expo., private property rights town hall, and educational sessions focused on a number of issues critical to the Texas cattle industry. For more information visit www.tscra.org/convention

A complete schedule can be found on the TSCRA convention website. TSCRA will continue to update the schedule with additional events.
