No Surprise- Wheat Harvest at a Standstill
Wed, 28 May 2014 04:34:10 CDT
Rainfall brought the just starting 2014 Oklahoma hard red winter wheat harvest to an abrupt halt at the beginning of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. On Tuesday afternoon, the Oklahoma Wheat Commission acknowledged the lack of activity with a brief statement about the harvest efforts:
"Harvest is at a standstill in Oklahoma with no changes taking place from the previous report last week. Rain showers fell in all regions of the state over the Memorial Day weekend, and producers in the southern regions are hopeful to get back into the fields by the end of the week in some places where the moisture amounts were minimal."
The OWC has indicated to the Radio Oklahoma Ag Network and Oklahoma Farm Report that they hope to offer reports Tuesdays and Thursdays each week while harvest is underway in the state.
