Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 05/28/2014

Receipts: 6326    Last Week: 9030    Year Ago: 6244

Compared to last week: Feeders steers sold mostly steady with last week's sharp increases. Feeder heifers traded 1.00 to 3.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves traded sharply higher, as demand became extremely good over the weekend due to the heavy amounts of moisture that most of the region received. Feeder cattle demand was moderate to good. Quality plain to attractive with several lots being in thin flesh conditions. Receipts this week totaled 82 percent over 600 lbs and 46 percent heifers.

   
Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1: Calves: few thin fleshed 300 lbs 325.00; 350-400 lbs 275.00-293.00; 400-500 lbs 243.00-264.00; 500-550 lbs 236.00-243.00, lot thin fleshed 500 lbs. 250.00; 550-600 lbs 228.00-242.00, fleshy 206.00; few 600 lbs 211.00; Yearlings: 600-650 lbs 219.00-224.00; 675-700 lbs 206.00-209.00; 700-750 lbs 195.50-205.00; 750-800 lbs 186.50-193.00; 800-900 lbs 174.50-186.50; 950-1000 lbs 163.75-171.50; 1000-1075 lbs 160.00-167.50; 1100-1175 lbs 156.50-158.00.
