Oklahoma National Stockyards - Mid-Session Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 06/30/2014

Estimated Receipts: 5800   Last Monday: 6524   Year Ago Monday: 6900

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers are trading firm to 5.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves mostly 5.00 to 10.00 higher, instances of 15.00 to 20.00 higher on light weight steers. According to the US Drought Monitor, large rainfall totals last week generated modest to significant reductions in the drought from Northern and Central Oklahoma, and southward into Texas. Showers and thunderstorms dropped 2 to more than 4 inches of rain from the Eastern Oklahoma Panhandle and Southeastward into Central Oklahoma and East-Central Texas. This has allowed drought intensity declined in areas where the heaviest rain fell, although long-term impacts continue.
