Lawton Hosts Annual 2014 Wichita Mountains Classic Steer and Heifer Show

The Annual Wichita Mountains Classic Steer and Heifer Show will take place at the Great Plains Coliseum Friday, December 5, 2014 through Sunday, December 7.
Sanctioned by the Oklahoma Club Calf Association (OCCA), the Wichita Mountains Classic awards $1,000 to Heifer Grand Champions, $500 to Heifer Reserve Champions, $750 to Steer Grand Champions and $375 to Steer Reserve Grand. It has a 70-percent payback in each class. The judges for this year's classic will be Kody Lucherk, Lubbock, Texas, and Marcus Arnold, El Dorado, Kansas.
The barns open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday and check-in begins at 4:00 p.m. with all heifer cards due by 7:00 p.m. that evening. Steer cards are due by 4:00 p.m. Saturday. Fees are $40 per head per-ring. Saturday, Ring A Heifer Show begins at 8:00 a.m. and Ring B Heifer Show begins at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, Ring A Steer Show begins at 8:00 a.m. and Ring B Steer Show starts at 9:00 a.m.
Online registration is available by clicking the Wichita Mountains Classic tab on the Chamber's homepage by clicking here. Entries will also be taken on-site and credit cards will be accepted. Sleep Inn & Suites will serve as the official host hotel for participants and their guests.
Show coordinators provide on-site security, stalls, and space for vendors. Eligible heifer breeds include: American Breed, Angus, Red Angus, Braunvieh, Charolais, Chianina, Commercial, Gelbvieh, Hereford (Polled & Horned), Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Maintainer, Salers, Shorthorn, Appendix Shorthorn, Simmental, Simmental and AOB. Eligible steer breeds are American Breed, Angus, Braunvih, Charolais, Chianina, Crossbreds, Gelbvieh, Hereford (Polled & Horned), Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Salers, Shorthorn, Simmental and AOB.
