Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 08/01/2016

Actual Receipts: 5,439   Last Monday: 5,059   Year Ago Monday: 4,679

   Compared to last week: Feeder cattle and calves mostly 4.00-6.00 higher. Demand remains good for all classes. Quality plain to average, few attractive. Cattle futures gave a boost to demand with a sharp increase on the day. Slaughter cattle prices also improved late last week. July was hot but rains continued to fall throughout the month giving some much needed moisture for some areas of the state. Supply included 73 percent over 600 lbs; 42 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves: few 325 lbs 186.00; few 400-425 lbs 181.00-184.00; lot 450-500 lbs 161.00-164.00, thin fleshed 175.50; 500-600 lbs 153.00-159.00, thin fleshed 160.00-162.00, fleshy 142.00-148.00; 600-700 lbs 137.25-142.00; 725-775 lbs 138.00-142.00; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 148.00-154.50, thin fleshed 164.50; 700-775 lbs 145.00-154.00; 800-900 lbs 134.00-142.50, thin fleshed 149.00; 900-950 lbs 134.00-139.75; pkg 1075 lbs 128.00.
